The Black Ensemble Theater of Chicago will present its production, “I Am Who I Am: The Story of Teddy Pendergrass,” at 8 p.m. Feb. 27 at the Music Hall Center for the Performing Arts, 350 Madison St., Detroit. The play is a celebration of the singer’s life, music and includes three original songs penned by Pendergrass, who died last month at the age of 59.
Tickets are $25-$75. Proceeds generated from the play will support Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc., Detroit Alumnae Chapter’s operations and community outreach programs. For information, call (313) 529-1687 or visit www.detroitdeltas.com.
