FAMU students repeat champs at NBMBAA Comp.

Joyce T. let us know…

A team of three business students from FAMU’s School of Business and Industry,
yesterday, claimed first place at the National Black MBA Conference’s case-study
competition in Washington, DC. It it the second year in a row that students from
FAMU’s SBI won the competition, and the first time in 14 years that a school has
repeated as champs.

The FAMU team swept through its region beating teams from MIT and Duke to make
the finals of the competition. When the final points were tallied FAMU finished
No. 1 and head of the University of Tennessee (2nd place), and the University of
Texas (3rd place).

Last year FAMU broke new ground at the MBA confab by becoming the first HBCU to
win the top prize. Ironically, it was FAMU’s first year competing.

  1. So proud of my RATTLERS!! As an SBI Alum, I’m glad that venues like the NBMBAA case competition and others are giving us an opportunity to show everyone that we ARE THE BEST BUSINESS SCHOOL from the BEST HBCU in the land!!

  2. Yes and one of the winning team members is my daughter Lia Naomi White , a 5th year professional MBA student in accounting. She will raduate on May 3 Summ Cum Laude. She is the baby girl of two Rattlers. Dayatra C. Baker- White,Pharmacy 1969 and Hubert Roland White ,Health and Physical Education 1970, Ms. 1973

  3. This is great and has opened my eyes to the abilities of HBCUs to compete and defeat majority schools. This needs to be spread as far and wide as possible, because I believe much conversation has revolved around either minority undergrad/ majority grad and vice versa. Yes indeedy.
