[People on the Move] Ngwebifor Fobi

ngwebi

My Name is… Ngwebifor Mignon Fobi. My family is from Cameroon West Africa and Blackshear, Georgia. (The village and the woods)

The reason you are reading about me is... because I am an engaging entrepreneur who has been able to follow my life passion of business and marketing consulting.

I attended… Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee from 1994-1998. I went to Fisk as an early entrant after the 11th grade and graduated with a bachelor degree in political science and a bachelor degree in Religious and Philosophical Studies.

Right now I’m working on… a Clinical Trial for a Client in Austria. It’s snowing, it’s cold, I don’t speak the language and I haven’t seen another person of African descent in days.

But if I wasn’t, I’d be… working on another client’s project somewhere else in this world. My work requires lots of travel. (P.S. I am looking for a travel buddy, must have passport and can pack light)

One thing I do every day is… pray

I can’t stand when people… make assumptions. Don’t assume, find out! Investigate. Ask questions. Get your full CSI on!

But I love it when people… are honest. The truth prevails all the time and it’s easy to remember.

If you happen to run into me in the street… stop and speak. I love people. I try to share a smile with everyone I come across.

The Best piece of advice I ever received was… not all money is good money. You have to decide what is important to you and stick with it. Integrity is everything. Don’t sell yourself short and look at the long term effects not just the immediate results.

If I had to coin it, my message would be… instinct over impulse. (Thanks MCW)

My future plans and projects include… working to unite the different African American organizations in the Los Angeles area so that we can have a greater impact on the communities we serve. I am a member of over a dozen organizations and we all have fundraisers for this cause or that cause. What would happen if we united for one big event? One fundraiser to help one struggling organization or one struggling school or one struggling family. What kind of impact would we have?

Big Ups to… all my folks who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for African Americans here and for Africans abroad. We have always known it takes a village to raise a child. We have always incorporated that philosophy in our lives from the African shores to the shores of the Bay. Let’s not get complacent because we have progressed. Let’s remember where we have come from and honor those who laid the foundation for us by being productive, reaching back to bring another brother or sister up and treating each other with love. Big Big Ups to AlumniRoundup for acknowledging the existence of the power of the HBCU graduates. Let’s use this medium to not only connect with old classmates, but to create business opportunities for each other through these relationships.

  1. I am extremely proud of you….you have been doing your thing no matter what the circumstances. Your involvement in so many organizations has inspired me to do more. Keep up the phenomenal work as our African-American communities have already gained from your involvement and successes. Much love, your Soror Fawn
