Sprite Step-Off Winner Decision Changed

As previously posted the ladies of Zeta Tau Alpha came through like gang-busters and took the title at Sprite’s national step show.

Sprite recently discovered a “scoring discrepancy” that required them to over turn the ruling as follows.

The Sprite Step Off was initially created as a way to recognize talented college students and give out scholarships to help support their higher education. If we put on some entertaining step shows and brought people together along the way, all the better.

After the National Finals Competition this past weekend in Atlanta wrapped, we got together to do our post-competition review and found a scoring discrepancy in the sorority results. After looking at it and looking at it AGAIN, we determined there isn’t a definitive resolution.

Sprite is all about preserving the honesty and integrity of this competition. Because the scoring discrepancy can’t be resolved and due to the really tight margin between the first and second place sorors, we feel that the only right thing to do is to name both Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau Chapter & Zeta Tau Alpha, Epsilon Chapter, co-first place winners of the Sprite Step Off.

With these revised results, we’re gonna increase Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Tau Chapter’s scholarship prize to $100K, consistent with what Zeta Tau Alpha also got for their first prize winnings.

Thanks again to everyone who helped make The Sprite Step Off happen. And to one last stroll in the name of unity…

Congratulations to both organizations.

  1. “SCORING DISCREPANCY” PLEASE! There was no discrepancy. Coke did not want this issue to escalate, so they squashed it quick with this excuse. This is going to make us (the black community) look like sore losers. I LOVE my black sisters, but the AKA’s did too much hair flinging and acting like they were looking in the mirror instead of stepping. ZTA stepped the whole time except on their exit.

  2. The ZTA did their thang!!!!!!!! wtf I’m not feeling the change… Why we cant except when someone does something better then us…. why is color always an issue…. I thought this was about unity as a whole……

  3. I’m with D… that scoring change was due to the outcry from the audience. I am surprised Sprite would readily cut two checks for that amount so quickly. I have attended step shows in the past. The losing team was always upset; but the decision was final. This recanting cheapens the competition. Zeta Tau Alpha had the better step performance and deserved to win first place.

  4. Although my love if for my sisters of the Phirst Phamily, The ladies of ZTA really did their thing. All I could say was…WOW…

    Good Job.
