It was a crazy oversight, but we just discovered a memory card with the “lost files” of photos from Mr. Roundup Russy’s birthday celebration in Los Angeles earlier this spring. This installment chronicles day 2 of our amazing week, which marked Russy and Tito’s first trip to the west side.
We began day 2 like each other day, with a return to Runyon Canyon for a hike in the morning. It kicked our butts as usual, then we headed over to Urth Cafe for lunch. While at lunch we got a call about David Banner guest hosting Jaimie Foxx’ radio show while Jamie was off on a film shoot. So we headed over to the station certainly funky from the hike (LOL!) and experienced the self described “We Ain’t Sh!t radio.” WOW.
So the show is basically shock jock style broadcast from a round table with several varying character. I really learned a lot and was impressed more so by the state of technology that basically can allow a small team of folks to produce a professional caliber radio show from a modest conference space. (Wayne’s World! Party on, Excellent!)
The highlight of the show was when a call came in from Virginia if I remember correctly. The caller called to say that he enjoyed the show, but that there were racist overtones. Now I wouldn’t call it racist, but you have a room full of black people doing SHOCK JOCK RADIO on XM… seriously, you know there are going to be some “colorful” comments. By his own description he was “white but my friends say I’m like a black dude”. Who the hell knows what that means LOL! The on air folks caught offense to his comment and a big argument ensued. After at least 10 minutes on air goingn back and forth, and seeing no reasonable end in sight, D. Banner says “Well, you obviously are a supporter of the show. Please go out and buy Jamie Foxx’s album and log in to AlumniRoundup.com. Thanks”
Man we damn near jumped up and did a chest bump! LOL!!!
We left the show and headed immediately over to Santa Monica to make this yoga class that Light was teaching over at Crunch Gym. Showered and shaved and headed over to a friends house for a dinner party. The cool thing was that when the Roundup events happened in LA in December she took pictures of Light for a portrait she would paint. At this party she revealed the finished work. Way to go Lisa!
Great day and another Amazing Journey. We’d love to have you join us on our next cool trip. We’re headed to Miami June 25-28 for Roundup Rendezvous: South Beach which coincides with the American Black Film Festival. Come on out and have a great time!
-Be.

LA's a nice place to visit, huh men?
It's an individual thing Be…but may have something to do with the economy.
