This photo technique is called tilt-shift photography and is done with a special camera lens. This technique has many applications in architecture, and many photo artists use the technique for its ability to make reality look more like a miniature model. Aussie Keith Loutit has combined this technique with time lapse photography to develop several really cool videos.
