Alumni Roundup Working with Tom Joyner Foundation to Support Outstanding Students

TJF students

Hey Family I just wanted to share with you a cool project we are happy to be a part of and suporting through our Homecoming activities. We are currently pushing this effort through our programming at Howard Hoemcoming but soon hope to garner support via all of the Roundup networks of alumni.

Giving is cool.

Be.,

Regarding the Full Ride initiative that we discussed on Thurs., I’m requesting a donation of the proceeds from your “Remember the Time” and additional Homecoming activities to the Tom Joyner Foundation for the purpose of providing a scholarship to an incoming freshman for the Fall 2010 semester.

As I explained on Thurs., the Tom Joyner Foundation will be announcing it’s 3rd annual Full Ride Scholarship competition on Nov. 13, 2009. The scholarship is available to high school seniors that are planning to enroll in an HBCU and covers all expenses for up to 10 semesters. Students are required to meet a certain criteria and apply through the process that’s further explained in the attached press release.

From the applications that we will receive, 10 finalists will be selected and flown to Atlanta, GA in March, 2010 for a final interview. As we discussed last week, I’d like to use a donation from AlumniRoundUp.com to fund a scholarship towards one of the 10 finalists that plans to attend Howard University. Be., these are some very bright and great students. To become a Tom Joyner Foundation Full Ride finalist, they will have demonstrated excellence academically as well as in their extra curricular and community service activities. Attached is a photo of this year’s finalist to give you a feel for what kinds of future leaders (in all respects: politics, medicine, arts, etc..) that I’m talking about.

Any and all of these students will continue the tradition of serving as great ambassadors for the Tom Joyner Foundation and I’m confident that they will do the same for AlumniRoundUp.com. These students have the right mix
of personality and charisma to be spokespersons for AlumniRoundUp.com, to represent the initiatives and events of AlumniRoundUp.com to Howard students, and to be a long term asset in the site’s current and future endeavors.

Please give me a call or email if you have any questions or concerns.
Thanks, Be.
