Photos From The Magic City Classic 2010

Saturday October 30th
Birmingham, AL

We hit the road this past weekend again. Half of the team went to DC to celebrate Howard Homecoming and the rest of us traveled to Birmingham to attend the 69th Annual Magic City Classic. Hosted by Wendy Williams and brought to you by Coca Cola, the Classic packed Legion Field and the streets of downtown Birmingham for miles. Just driving in, you could smell the BBQs, hear the music and the laughter of the fans and residents of Birmingham.

Alabama A & M University had won the game for the past 5 years but got off to a rough start this year. ASU ended up winning this game 41 – 10 and although the AAMU fans were disappointed, they still cheered, stood and danced for the Marching Maroon & White as they did their “Death March”.

See you next year!

Photos From The Atlanta Football Classic

Atlanta, GA

Coming into this game Florida A & M had just come off of a monstrous win over Howard University just last week (50 – 7), to top that off, FAMU Alum and Celebrity Movie Producer Will Packer flipped the coin to welcome Tennessee State to Atlanta. TSU won the toss and commanded the speed of the game as they scored on their initial drive (:23 seconds in). TSU continued this roll and pulled off a win (TSU:29 FAMU:18).

Photos from the Whitney M. Young Classic

Seacaucus, NJ.

The 2010 Whitney M. Young Scholarship Classic hosted Howard and the Morgans State for the football game.  Though the football could have been better (MSU 20 Howard 3) the experience was a good time.

I was taken COMPLETELY by surprise as I pulled into the Meadowlands complex parking lot which was completely full.  So surprised that I asked the parking attendant was there another event happening or was all this for the football game only.  Sure enough, it was all for the game.  Nice.

Photos from Howard vs FAMU Game Day 2010

The Howard vs FAMU game was nothing short of a full embarrassment (50-7) on the part of the HU football program. The Rattlers manhandled the Bison like Cosmo Kramer whooping kids in karate class. There were about equal parts of Howard fans and FAMU fans in the stands which makes everything more interesting. Meeting new other alumni is where it’s at.

The Day Party was a good round two. Cheap drinks, good music, and new people makes a great mix. For the second week in the row however the spot’s AC was insufficient. No matter this week, we took to the sidewalk! Thanks for coming out every one. We’ll see you in Atlanta and NJ for the classics this weekend.
